About Adele Bower
Almost everything I do must first go through my 'fun filter.' If it isn't fun, then I consider moving on to something that is fun and includes my art. Often when setting out to do a serious painting, the urge to have fun takes over and the painting ends up fanciful (artistic license?) I enjoy sketching with pen and ink, charcoal, or plain old graphite pencil, but my real love is color, the more vivid the better. I like to make colors vibrate when painted next to each other.
My father was an accomplished professional illustrator and fine art painter, which gave me a childhood surrounded by beautiful art and expert training. He was my first teacher....and he was demanding. Having fun was not in his curriculum. I eventually held several jobs working in commercial illustration studios and later in my own freelance studio.
I studied art at the University of Houston-Main Campus, the University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from the Art Institute of Houston. Today I paint in my home studio inHouston, Texas. My husband and I have three children, two children-in-law, four grand-children, three grand-children-in-law and a brand new Great Granddaughter . Life is still 'fun.'
