The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. We were on the train between Durango and Silverton, Colorado enjoying many beautiful sights. This one is a bend in the Animas River near Silverton. It was a very cold day, at least for these two Texans. My most vivid memory is how uneasy I felt when the little train went so close to the edge of a gorge, or something else equally deep and scary.
